Well, I can safely say this session is somewhat harder than Session 1. But that’s to be expected.
What I am disappointed about is that one of my roommates insists on breaking the housing rules and annoys the everloving hell out of me.
Annoying me, is just a personality flaw I can deal with. The breaking the rules part? Infuriates me to no end.
Here’s the thing: This is not your typical college setting. In fact, we’re not on a college campus at all. Yes, we receive college credit BUT this is a 4 week immersion class with only 6 students max. That also means that people are on waiting lists to get in. Someone is sitting at home right now….wishing they’d been able to get in.
Also? We’re adults. The lion’s share of us have families we help support. If we can’t make it out of this class, it’s detrimental, not only to our jobs, but to our livelihood.
And finally and most importantly: We are here BY CHOICE. WE CHOSE to be here when the slots were offered up to us. I hate it when people get here and then begrudge the rules, regulations, and overall expectations given to them. We have to earn 9 college credits in 4 weeks. You do the math.
And so with those thoughts in mind, I went out to Totem Park and hiked a good long time today. I walked off most of my frustration…took some pictures..only to realize that I didn’t pack the right memory card reader.
But all in all-and I really mean this-I’m enjoying my time here. I can handle the workload (as long as I stay out of the vicinity of the jerk) and in less than 30 days I can celebrate finishing the class with a cold beer.
Mmmmmm. Beeeeeeer.
